| Climbers have always had a special place at Pinnacle Peak Park. Along with developers, non-profit organizations and park neighbors, climbing clubs were instrumental in encouraging the city to open the park in 2002. Pinnacle Peak has been a popular climbing destination since the 1960's.
The 200-foot granite peak and two other climbing areas, Cactus Flower and Y-Crack Boulder, are available for rock climbing whenever the park is open. There are also excellent quality routes on smaller crags near the peak. Together these offer a wide selection traditional crack and bolted routes. Climbing areas can be accessed from marked climbing trails. One note: the Lower East Wall is closed to climbing.
Visit www.rockclimbing.com for more detail on climbing areas and routes.
Rock climbing at Pinnacle Peak Park is for experienced climbers with appropriate equipment only. Keep these things in mind when planning your climb:
- Climb only in the designated climbing areas and access them via the marked climbing trails.
- The park closes at dusk. Plan your climb so you can be out of the park by closing.
- Fixed anchor locations are limited to those already established.
- Un-roped climbing is not recommended.
Climbing available at Pinnacle Peak Park is traditional climbing. There are no sport routes in the park and bouldering is very limited. |
